Hi! I’m Anne Victory, freelance editor.

I know that finishing your manuscript is only the beginning of the publishing process.

Outside of writing, a professional production team is probably the biggest facet of being an author you’ll have to perfect. Finding the right people can be a challenge, and your needs will change depending on where you are in your career. One of the big questions you may be asking is, “What can Victory Editing do for me?”

First, I’m good at what I do.

Check out some of the books in my Testimonials section or in my Project List, where you’ll find all the books—numbering in the hundreds—that I’ve worked on over the years. From NYT best-selling authors and RITA® Award winners and nominees to debut writers, you’ll see quality in every single project I tackle. The bare minimum you should expect of an editor is that they’re competent, professional, and pleasant to work with. But I don’t settle for minimum, and neither should you. Ask any of my clients—I’m confident Victory Editing will get their seal of approval.

Second, I build relationships.

My goal is to help clients produce quality books that rival those put out by New York publishers. To that end, I have several staff members—a developmental editor, a line editor (myself), proofreaders, and an Oops Detector. This production process means multiple sets of eyes have the opportunity to go over your work. No book is perfect—that’s not possible. But with Victory Editing, your books can shine. Readers will focus on your story, which is as it should be.

And the best part? I handle the logistics of shepherding your manuscript through the production process and wrangling other members of the team.

Having me as your sole point of contact means you’ve got less stress and more time, which frees you up to write, handle promotion (ask about my NetGalley co-op!), and deal with the myriad other tasks that come with being a successful author. Or you could, I dunno, take some you-time.

My clients aren’t just clients—we’re a team, and I do everything I can to make life easier for them and make sure everything comes together for a successful launch.

Many of my editing professionals have worked with authors on numerous projects, learning their particular styles, quirks, and weaknesses. This allows our editing to grow with your writing, with the goal of making each book better than the last.

If you want Victory Editing on your team, I’d love to talk to you. Feel free to browse around my site, then get in touch when you’re ready to talk and we’ll take it from there!

Curious to know a little more about me? Keep reading!

My name is Anne Victory, and I’m the founder of Victory Editing. The business name isn’t just a gimmick or a catchy phrase–I came by it honestly.

So, how did I decide on editing as a career choice? Like many of my clients, I’ve been an avid reader since I was about five. I read thrillers, mysteries, some horror, true crime, science fiction, and of course, my great loves: romance and fantasy.

I’ve always been a stickler for grammar, and at every job I was “volunteered” (or volun-told) to either write or proofread everything from menus to game manuals to advertising copy. That business writing and editing experience came in handy when I started to work in fiction. I enjoy reading, and I enjoy polishing the written word. Common wisdom says do what you love and you’ll live a long and happy life. With my background in English literature, grammar, and library science, it was a fairly easy decision to work with authors.

In December of 2010, I started offering “final pass” proofreading services (also known as cold reads). Monique Martin jokingly called it “Oops Detection,” and the name stuck. Oops Detection® was an instant hit, and over time I had requests for manuscript-level services as well. In response to that growing demand, I expanded my services to offer editing in addition to after-formatting proofreading. The rest, as they say, is history.

I hope you enjoyed visiting with me, and I look forward to working with you in the future!
